Welcome to the MWSU Black Alumni Foundation—the philanthropic arm of the MWSU Black Alumni Network. Our mission is to empower Black students and alumni through education, leadership, and community engagement. Together, we foster connections, celebrate achievements, and inspire lifelong giving.
Our journey as MWSU Black Alumni, from humble beginnings to a thriving community, has been filled with unity, resilience, and progress. After nearly five years of conversation, planning, and support from the Office of Alumni Relations, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, the Missouri Western Alumni Association Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of an affinity group that will consider the specific interests and contributions of Black students and alumni. The university officially recognizes the group as the Missouri Western State University Black Alumni Network. It was founded by five alumni: Lai-Monté Hunter ’99, James Sanders ’84, Kimberly Warren ’92, Robert Warren ’95, and Chemia Woods ’08. To date, we have more than 500 members strong!
The MWSU Black Alumni Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering college access and affordability, promoting academic excellence, and creating a lasting impact in local and national communities. As the philanthropic arm of the MWSU Black Alumni Network, we strive to enhance the Black student experience and strengthen connections among alumni.
Increase engagement, impact lives, and create a global legacy of excellence.
